Where it helps most
The rooms Guildford homes struggle to keep cool
Attic bedrooms
Victorian and Edwardian houses around Charlotteville and Stoke often have a converted top floor under a slate roof. In a heatwave it can stay above 25°C well into the night.
South-facing hillside rooms
Homes on the slopes towards Merrow and the Mount catch the sun all afternoon. Big windows that frame the view also let the heat in.
Studies for London commuters
Plenty of people split the week between the office and a spare room at home. A single wall unit makes that room bearable in July.
Rooms that are cold in winter too
The same system works as an air-to-air heat pump, so a chilly extension or garden room gets warmth from October as well as cooling in summer.

How you get a price
You can stop at any point.
Answer a few questions
Which rooms, roughly what size, and whether there’s a garden, side return or flat roof for the outdoor unit. A guide figure appears at the end.
A visit to the house
The installer looks at wall construction, your fuse board and where the pipes can run, then talks you through the options.
A fixed price in writing
The quote reflects what the survey found. Accept it and a fitting date is booked; ignore it and that’s the end of it.

Fitted by ProAir, from survey to switch-on
ProAir is a Mitsubishi Electric Accredited Installer and Midea MiPro Partner. The same team surveys your home, fits the system and commissions it.
- Planning checked at surveyIf you’re in a conservation area or the Surrey Hills, the surveyor flags anything Guildford Borough Council may need to see.
- Units chosen per roomEach indoor unit is sized for the room it serves, not picked from a single standard model.
- Neat outsidePipe covers are matched to the wall where they show, and the outdoor unit goes where it bothers you and the neighbours least.
About the price
Why we don’t print a price list
A terraced house near the station and a detached home in Shalford can need very different work for the same number of rooms. The estimate asks about these things so the figure fits your house.
01
Rooms and sizes
A small study and a large open-plan kitchen need very different capacities.
02
Wall and pipe route
Solid brick, stone or timber frame, and how far the pipes travel to the outdoor unit.
03
Outside space
Ground level, a wall bracket or a flat roof, plus any planning conditions.
A guide figure takes a few minutes. The survey then turns it into a fixed written price. See what affects the cost.
Start my estimateCommon questions
What Guildford homeowners ask first
Can you fit it in a listed building or conservation area?
Often, yes, but it needs more care. Listed buildings need listed building consent for most external work, and conservation areas can limit where the outdoor unit goes. The surveyor will say what applies before you commit. The period homes guide covers this in more detail.
Will it work in a house with thick solid walls?
Yes. The pipes need one core-drilled hole of about 65mm through the wall, whatever it is made of. Thick stone or brick takes longer to drill, and that shows up in the quote.
How loud is the outdoor unit at night?
Modern units have a night mode that slows the fan. Even so, the surveyor will avoid placing it under a bedroom window, yours or next door’s, because the sound carries more in quiet residential streets.
Do you cover Woking and Godalming as well?
Yes, along with villages from Send and Ripley to Shalford, Wonersh and Compton. The areas page lists them all.
Does the estimate commit me to anything?
No. It is a guide based on your answers. Only the written quote after the survey is a firm price, and you decide whether to go ahead.
